I feel like I’m in a pressure cooker about to explode!

Earlier in the year I started working in an admin role from home. It’s events marketing which has never been my area but I wanted to do something.

We’ve got three kids of 10,8,5. The youngest two are both diagnosed with autism and adhd plus the middle dc has an autoimmune condition. Last year the youngest was barely in school.

I’m working 15-20 hours a week and feel incredibly stressed. The job isn’t as the description sold it. I’m basically organising business events for business people and I haven’t a clue what to put on. Resources are non existent. My boss is a lovely guy and is really pleased with what I’m doing but I feel stressed constantly. My husband recently lost his job and is now contracting and doesn’t see why I’m so stressed about it all. I just don’t feel like I can breathe or cope. I’m organising one big event a month and find in the close run up to the event I don’t sleep.

The money is good so do I keep going? I know the likelihood is I won’t find another job as I need to be around to pick the kids up.

Then you need to find a way of releasing that pressure. That's how I describe stress, like a big pressure cooker and it's important to let off the steam regularly.

Really the onus should be on your bloke to help. Like mine gives me regular breaks, I especially love the one where I get the house to myself for a decent chunk of time to do whatever. That's weekly. Does your bloke pitch in, take the kids so you can decompress?

Honestly? I'd look for a new job. This is not going to work. I've been in a very similar situation and it goes nowhere but Stressville.
