Tips for shaving?

Does anyone have any tips for shaving? I always seem to end up with a little bumpy rash?

I hardly ever get red bumps and I shave everywhere. Not much of a tip but I use Dove cream bar and it makes the shave really smooth. Whenever I run out and use normal soap or shower gel, the shave isn't nearly as smooth.

First things first - are you using a good razor?

DolceFarNiente · 16/10/2018 00:53

Good point, what do you use OP? As well as Dove bar that I mentioned above, I shave with Venus triple-blade razor. When I've used disposable Venus razors they've been crap at getting a clean shave so more likely to get bumpy.

A high quality razor, and don't use it too many times before replacing.

I was using a Venus three blade disposable one that was on offer. I usually use a cheapy disposable on my underarms because I’m not very hairy there, but legs and undercarriage I have a bumpy problem. I always use a new razor for down below, and it is fine when it has just been done, but by the next day has reacted badly

I also use a shaving cream but maybe soap is better? I don’t really even buy soap anymore now that I think about it...

Prime with baby oil before you get into the shower/bath! Rub it in all your hairy areas
When you're actually shaving do it slowly and carefully, and trim first! Before I found my baby oil trick I used to get the worst red bumps every!! Hopefully this works for you too

A good oil will most definitely help. I use Almond oil before and after. I'd avoid soap as I found it overall quite drying on the skin. And for some inexplicable reason I usually use men's razors so either Wilkinson Sword or Gillette. I'd also try and make a routine of it so you maintain the smoothness rather than leaving it for weeks at a time and having to go in with an assortment of landscaping tools.
