Visual acuity - what does it mean?

Having some vision issues. I got a letter from the eye hospital, stating my visual acuity in my bad eye is 6/9 with glasses. Assume 6/6 is normal? I googled but it didn’t clarify much.

Is simple summary is that you can read from 6 meters what someone with perfect vision can read from 9 meters.

Mine was 6/42 at my last test in my bad eye.

It's about clarity of vision so you may notice you bad eye is fuzzier

6/9 is very slightly reduced, it’s usually one line above the 6/6 line on the chart, some charts have an additional line in between which is 6/7.5. It is better than the level needed to drive.

Thanks. :) My eye has improved with treatment. I couldn’t find the letter which outlined my issues 6 months ago.
