Surprise party for 40th

IF I were to throw a surprise birthday party for someone, what do I need to consider/budget for? I've got:

  1. Venue
  2. Money behind bar
  3. Buffet
  4. Inviting people well in advance
  5. Hotel (as it won't be near where we live, it will be where everyone else is)

That's it really isn't it?

Decorations? A few banners or balloons?

Eliza9917 · 15/10/2018 11:42

I can get cheapy balloons/banners etc from ebay or somewhere, no one will be really fussed about decs. But entertainment is a good point, a singer would be good.

I wouldn't do a surprise party for someone who you knew didn't want one...I would absolutely hate it. Could you not put the money towards a weekend away or something?

Eliza9917 · 15/10/2018 11:48

He would want one. We don't see family regularly anymore since we moved and he loves a party.

maybe hire a hall instead then you can supply drinks and get guests to also bring their own and get a few friends to mind the bar

DJ or band and decorations.
