Anyone TEFL online? A few Q's

So I'm a qualified ESL teacher, the opportunity has arisen to teach a few students who are in China and are intending to do postgrad in the UK. The thing is that I haven't taught online before so not sure which platform is the best? Skype, WizzIQ etc?

Also how much to charge? Here I would charge £20 per hour for conversational english and £30-35 for business english (tailored to their speciality) I don't know if that is wildly unrealistic for rates in China though? I can afford to lower my prices and I want the experience, but on the other hand don't want to sell myself short.

Any hints/tips would be appreciated.

I taught online for a good few years and always used Skype - seemed to work well with students I had in China. I would absolutely charge £20-£30 per hour, although I would offer discounts for bulk bookings. I didn’t find that students in China of the same age range you’re planning to teach minded paying that rate, as they were happy to pay for good quality, regular lessons with a native speaker.

And good luck, I really loved teaching online and I hope it works out really well for you!

Thanks, really appreciate the reply. Can I ask did you provide homework?
