If you go expecting rain everyday all day anything else is a bonus Grin personally I wouldn't go at that time of year as I would hate it to rain a lot of the time.

How good is the deal?

Posting because I want to know too. I've never been further than the Canary Islands and one thing that puts me off travelling further afield is that I don't understand what the weather does when in other parts of the world or how much holidays there should cost and I worry that something that looks affordable is cheap because the weather is rubbish or bloody dangerous at that time of year.

Googling brings up:

www.cntraveller.com/article/travel-guide-maldives

'The high season falls between December and March. The monsoon runs from May to October, peaking around June. The northern atolls have highest rainfall May-Nov; the southern atolls from Nov-Mar. It is worth paying the higher prices and sticking to the dry season – there's not much to do on rainy days except drink, work out or scuba dive'

It doesn't say anything about hurricanes, but does mention monsoons - no good if you want a beach holiday, but the only reason I'd go there would be to dive, which you can still do when it's raining as it's still warm and you get soaking wet anyway.

Depends what you want to do! I’ve been to the Maldives 3 times, twice in dry season and once in the monsoon. I go to dive so I knew it was likely to rain a lot but it was also whale shark season where we were so I didn’t mind. In the event it rained pretty much solidly and very heavily for the whole week and we had the most incredible week of diving, with sharks on every dive, loads of mantas and whale sharks.

I wouldn’t want to go to an island, if I didn’t dive, in monsoon season as there’s literally nothing to do!!
