How long would you leave it before bending?

DS1, 17 yo, is off to the US on a school trip on Friday.

It was against my better judgement because of the cost but he made a good case for how it will help with his course and he's never asked for any of the other expensive trips. So, I agreed to pay for the trip on the condition he saved the spending money. Which he has done.

They need quite a bit of cash because they're staying in hostels and will need buy food. They're also having a "cultural" trip to an outlet centre Hmm DS1 isn't in the least interested in clothes/shopping so I've suggested he takes cash for the day to day spending and checks with his bank that his debit card will work if he decides to make a purchase in the mall.

I've also told him he needs to go online and order his dollars to collect at the post office.

So far he's done neither. I'm not inclined to do it for him, but otoh I can't send him away with no money for food.

WWYD?

I would say once more to him the 2 jobs needs to do and then let him face the consequences of not doing them.
