Calling all bakers!!! CAKE EMERGENCY!!

I'm making a mermaid cake for DD's birthday. I'm making 2 identical Madeira sponges. The first one, is ready to go in the oven but I've stupidly messed up the 2nd one. I whisked the flour in instead of folding it in. I've just realised and starting folding it in and I've added milk and got it to a nice consistency. Do I need to start the second sponge again? Please help!

Nah, it should be fine :)

summerlovingliz · 14/10/2018 16:31

I would have thought it will be absolutely fine

Bake it and see what happens... If it’s a fail, pour custard over it for a pudding.

Is this your second thread? Grin

It should be fine!

PollyFlinderz · 14/10/2018 16:33

It might now rise as much as the other one but it should be fine.

Spankyoumuchly · 14/10/2018 16:34

Put a bit of baking powder in. Not a lot because you need a dense sponge for carving it.

SongsFromTheWar · 14/10/2018 16:38

Sorry. Yes I did create another thread as I needed an urgent reply and panicked people wouldn't read the update!

Thanks all. I've popped it in the oven, let's hope for the best. If it turns into a decent cake I'll post a pic of the finished product. If you don't hear from me, you can assume it's ended in disaster and I've ended up with a Tesco cake Grin

Amazing OP, well done!

RB68 · 15/10/2018 21:39

well done - I always use an all in one method these days - chuck everything in the bowl and whisk lots - works fine

SongsFromTheWar · 15/10/2018 22:12

That looks lovely. I once made a birthday cake that was supposed to be a fairy. My daughter loved it and said she'd always wanted a Bat cake Grin

PollyFlinderz · 16/10/2018 03:16

That’s a cake to be proud of. Well done!

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 16/10/2018 07:11

I'm glad it turned out well Cake

Datedandold · 16/10/2018 07:14

Oooh, that’s bloody gorgeous! Well done.

SongsFromTheWar · 16/10/2018 11:43

Thanks everyone. I'm so happy with it... might just have to bake more often! Grin
