New Forest stop off A31

Can anyone recommend somewhere to stop just off the A31 in the New Forest please? I don't want somewhere like an attraction as such, just some great woodland for a walk (no requirement for any sort of facilities).

I was thinking coming off at Cadnam might be a good idea?

Rufus Stone?

Does that have proper footpaths and the like or is there a decent amount of woodland to walk through? DD likes finding sticks and things in woodland.

It's on the edge of the forest but a decent circular walk through woodland with a pub along the way. Burley or Lyndhurst are more in the heart of the forest.

When are you travelling? It's been very wet today and the forest will become very muddy and slippery!

Come off at Cadnam (where the M27 turns into the A31)
go north.
just past the two pubs, pull up in the golf course car park and have a wander

User - tomorrow. Has the weather been very bad there then? If so maybe footpaths will be a godsend!

I'm near, rather than in, the New Forest so can't say for certain how bad the weather has been. But we had very heavy rain this morning and are about 8 miles from Cadnam so puddles lightly! Go with Ta1kinpeace's suggestion - sounds like they know the area better.
