Morning,
So far solicitors have dealt with my dads Will and we have got to the point of grant of probate.
My mum wants me to sort out the next stage but I truly have no idea where to start or how difficult it will be. Can anyone advise?
I work full time and have a young family so have limited time and feel overwhelmed.
Thank you.

Do you mean with regards to investments and what to do with it all, house sale etc? If the solicitor has got as far as getting probate granted I presume you've already paid the tax etc.

My brother is currently doing the probate for Mum's estate. We're nearly ready to submit it.

No house sale as my mum lives there.
He had money in savings and isa.
I have no idea what the next process is and google isn’t helping x

Whose name is grant of probate in, the solicitors or yours?

We just took the grant of probate and death certificate in to my mums banks and building societies and they released the money. Same with an investment, I rang them, then posted the documents and they just sent a cheque.

Don’t know whose name it’s in, my mums I think.

If it’s in your mum’s name then she will need to deal with it but as pp said it is just a case of taking/sending it to all the financial institutions your Dad held money with and providing bank details for the account money should be transferred to.

Thanks everyone.
Has anyone come across any easy read information for this stage?
My mum gets confused and then angry as a result. I need to tread carefully.

Websites for older people like Age UK and Alzheimer's Society usually have straightforward factsheets on this sort of thing. Independent Age has useful factsheets, they point you to the money advise service for probate. I found this contact info too:
Probate Service
In England and Wales there
are regional Probate Service
offices. To locate yours
please consult your solicitor
or local government office.
For more information and
advice on dealing with an estate:
