Hello every one,
Please I need help on how to go about this, we are buying a new build house from bloorhomes, we have exchanged and completion is by end of Nov. At reservation we were told there is a door linking the garage to the house just like a similar house we view but just discovered now that there is no door when we went to building site. How do we deal with this when speak to bloorhomes as we really need that door. Thank you.

The plan show there is a door and we asked them as well because were happy to have that link door.

We had many many similar issues with our new build but we’re lucky enough to have a copy of the drawings to back us up. Put the complaint in writing stating you purchased the property in the belief that the door was there and you were led to believe it by sales staff. Not providing it is a breach of the consumer code and misrepresentation of the property. Be prepared to pester, pester and pester some more!

@britespark1, thanks for taking your time to comment. Please who do we write to as we usually contact the sales staff. They will not allow us view the inside of the house till demostration day, we were furtunate to have a closer look yesterday from outside as there workmen in.

Contact your solicitor who dealt with your purchase. They should have a copy of the property particulars, including the floorplan. They can then argue your case with the vendor's solicitor.

Thanks we will do just that as we only have the floor plan picture but not the main plan drawings, they only show it to us during resevation. We may call and ask them for it first.

Our builder forgot to put the personnel door in the garage. No biggie, they came round, cut a hole through the wall and fitted it. Sorted.

They have 6 of this style of the house which is still under construction and we have notice all 6 don’t have the door. Reading through the contract again is like we have no right to say anything if they make any change during construction even though they said something else before as they think it will not affect the market value of the property. When they took us to view a similar propety we were assured is going to be the same expect some few things that is that one but the garage link door was there and in the floor plan we have.

Definitely put it in writing to the sales staff so it is logged straight away and if it hasn't been sorted before you move in, make sure it's logged on the handover form and any subsequent snagging list. We have been in our Taylor Wimpey new build over 2 years now and still trying to get them to finish a variety of tasks.

We have contacted our solicitor today, they have contacted bloorhomes, just waiting for their reply before we will contact bloorhomes directly. Because as at when we saw the property and reserved it they have already finished the ground floor so the door access should have been there, expect they lied to us. I just pray is sorted. Thank you so much.

That's good, just be prepared to stand your ground and pester as much as you need to!

Thank to you all for your advice which have help me to deal with the issue with ease. I contacted the sales team in writing about our finding and how disappointed we are, they replied immediately that it was a mistake from the builders and they have alerted the site manager who will rectify it ASAP. Thanks once more for your help.
