How do you split up your annual leave?

I'm curious to hear how other people do it...

Do you space it out throughout the year so you have a week off every 3 months or do - or take two week breaks in one chunk and wait months for a holiday from work?

Personally I don't like taking A/L in the first 4-5 months.

School holidays. I only get 24 (I think!) days so spread them out throughout the year balancing holiday club etc.

Why is that OP?
Is it because you feel you haven't 'earned it?
Or you're worried you might leave suddenly and need to pay it back?

I like to take two weeks together at some point during the year, I feel a lot more refreshed and ready to go back whereas I never feel a week has the same impact. I always keep a week to take between January and March and take a day off on my birthday. I'm lucky to get 33 days having worked in the NHS for over 10 years now. DH only gets 25.

I work in retail and get a lot... 8 weeks. So I do a week every other month and a weekend on the months I don't have a week off.

@userofthiswebsite I worry I'll need or want it in the later half of the year and I'll have no entitlement left

I tended to do that too OP. I'd get bank holidays off anyway so would put in a few days to have a week over Easter. A week off for my birthday in May, put in a week of holidays and end up with two off over Christmas and a week in September, then use the rest for long weekends. I'm self employed now and truly miss having four weeks a year off 😁

mine tends to be quite spaced out. But I work 3 days a week (in a row) so have 4 days off together each week which helps! I also have a pretty good leave allowance.

This year I’ve had a week off in June, July, August, September, October and will have a week off in February. I’ll also have the occasional day off here & there.
