Very early possible ectopic /shoulder pain

Am waiting for a call back from a doctor after calling 111 a few hours ago, but does anyone know if it's possible for shoulder tip pain to be a symptom of ectopic very early on? There's conflicting info online.
Got slightly unexpected BFP today but then realised it could be bad news as I had severe shoulder pain Thursday night. Thought was a trapped nerve and went after taking painkillers & sleeping.
Im only just 4 weeks so not sure after reading about the cause of shoulder tip pain in ectopic (internal bleeding/diaphragm) that there may still be some hope as might not be possible to happen so early? Sure baby is only a dot and tube would not rupture yet?
Any medical experts to advise while I wait for my call please Sad

Shoulder pain can be a late symptom of an ectopic pregnancy. Do you have any abdominal pain?

benderinabun · 13/10/2018 17:21

Thanks for replying Latte. No pain elsewhere, some very mild back cramps. No bleeding. If it's a late symptom and I'm only 4 weeks then perhaps I'm worrying about nothing then? Have had 2 early miscarriages already this year so possibly paranoid but the pain on Thurs was quite severe (although relatively short lived) and unlike anything I've experienced before...

Sorry you're going through this. With my ectopic I had no shoulder pain, I had bleeding, pain on the side it was which radiated down my leg. Silly question but could it be trapped wind? I've had it in the same place before.

I didn’t have any pain at all with either of my ectopics. I did have all sorts of aches and pains with my other pregnancies.

If you are only 4 weeks rupture is highly unlikely, so I wouldn’t panic.

If you now feel ok, I’d be inclined to just go to get an early scan at your local EPAU on Monday morning (but be prepared for a long wait - Mondays are invariably heaving in those places). They can scan to confirm location at this stage. It’s common to be told that you need to wait for 6 weeks, but that is not correct- I’ve had a location scan at 4+2.

Thanks Hartof- to be honest it could have been anything, I had a virus and had been coughing hard so put it down to a trapped nerve, might've been wind, wasn't really worried as it was gone the next morning. It's only now I've had a BFP I've started to put 2 and 2 together but hopefully have come up with 5

Thanks Polly that's useful advice, I didn't know I could do that this early on.

Let us know how you go x

A doctor called me eventually last night and confirmed without any abdominal pain it's unlikely to be an ectopic causing the shoulder pain at this stage. But to keep an eye on my symptoms basically and to let my GP know.
Thank you everyone for your advice Smile
