The jingle of yak bells beneath my window! I am walking up to the Edmund Hillary school today. Grin

I'm generally quite stupid but I don't have a clue what this means.
Care to educate me?

Dontfeellikeamillenial · 13/10/2018 02:24

Edmund Hillary?

Are you abroad?

nannytothequeen · 13/10/2018 02:33

I am in Nepal in the high Himalaya. Actually don't live in the Uk at all. Go home to NZ next week. Very excited about today!

Wow you sound so exotic in comparison to my sleepy UK coastal town.

I can hear the sea crashing around at the moment (shuttup, sea) and won't be able to sleep now so am waiting until shops/cafés open then will have a humongous breakfast.

Lazypoolday · 13/10/2018 03:18

Sounds great. Can you post a pic?

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 13/10/2018 03:37

That sounds amazing. What time is it there? I’m lying awake in Italy on holiday nursing a bit of sunburn enjoying how quiet it is. When I do go home I’m going to miss the crickets chirping. They are so loud but I find it quite relaxing.

LanguidLobster · 13/10/2018 03:43

Crickets?? Sounds tranquil. You try listening to this sea! Must be a storm. Bang bang bang crash crash crash.

Everyone's having more peaceful melodic times

In more exotic locations Angry

FeralBeryl · 13/10/2018 03:47

I've (been) woken up to a very pissed DH trying to quietly sneak in and dramatically saying he feels sick.
I'm very sympathetic as this is a rare, post work related occurrence.
Would much prefer yak bells tbh

LanguidLobster · 13/10/2018 03:49

Naughty DH!

User24689 · 13/10/2018 03:57

I've been woken up by my 11 month old who thinks it is morning. I would also prefer yak bells!

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 13/10/2018 04:02

I live in the Highlands and apparently it was a bit wild there yesterday so I’m trying to appreciate my sunburnt legs from paddling in the Med with 8 year old ds yesterday because I’m going to be freezing when I get back home in a week.
I do love the sound of a stormy sea although when you’re right next to it you can get too much of a good thing.

Bloodybridget · 13/10/2018 04:46

Yak bells, crashing seas and crickets all sound marvellous. I usually wake to police helicopters and sirens. I could always move to Tibet, I guess, or Teignmouth.

Strawberrybelly · 13/10/2018 04:57

I got woken up by Dd coming into bed with me. Then I looked at my phone and found I had 40 minutes before my alarm so could go back to sleep until the cat decided to try and get under the covers repeatedly.

31133004Taff · 13/10/2018 05:02

Labradoodle trying to get into bed with me, except the attempt was via my head. Doodle consequently given short-shrift. Then the memory of DD1’s birth twenty years ago at this time.

Carmen99 · 13/10/2018 05:11

It's been 2 years since I had more than 4 hours sleep in a row. Tonight at 3am my husband decided to bring youngest child into bed as 'he's probably missing his mum'. It was supposed to be my night off (first 'night off' in 3 weeks)
I love the image of yak bells. Lovely mini distraction from my tired life.

Spankyoumuchly · 13/10/2018 05:14

Ds1 having cramp in his leg for the first time. What a horrible way for him to wake up. He's going back to sleep. I have an adrenaline rush, so I'm going to read for a bit.

mathanxiety · 13/10/2018 05:17

It's still Friday where I am, and this morning when my alarm went off for the third time and I reached for snooze yet again my cat ran up my bed and bit my arm.

Changedtoprotect · 13/10/2018 05:34

Woken up to silence which is unusual (it the world still there? Is it me?) and a really bad back

nocoolnamesleft · 13/10/2018 05:39

Presumably named after Sir Edmund Hillary who, with Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, was the first to successfully scale Everest? How exciting.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 13/10/2018 05:46

It’s still Friday here. Very quiet outside as the falling snow is muffling everything.

TchoupiEtDoudou · 13/10/2018 05:47

I've been woken up by my sobbing 7 year old who has a migraine. Once at 1am and again at 6am.

Plus twice for my 4 year old who had nightmares.

I would love to wake up to silence.

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/10/2018 05:50

I want jingly yak belle or something exotic
I was woken by wheelie bin sliding around banging into things and an unsecured gate banging .live in hilly area and blustery winds very blustery!!

strawberrisc · 13/10/2018 06:06

I’ve woken up, as ever, to the triangle of barking hounds on the estate.

Dontgiveamonkeys1350 · 13/10/2018 06:07

Woke up to a cat sat on my head. Seriously. He wants food. Not sure sitting on my head is a way to do that though.

Longdistance · 13/10/2018 06:12

The rumblings of an aircraft. Well, dd woke far too early, then a plane took off. No mountain cattle here.
