The jingle of yak bells beneath my window! I am walking up to the Edmund Hillary school today. Grin

Oh and not walking to the Edmund Hillary school in Nepal. Taking DD to the precinct to stock up her Primark wardrobe.

Changedtoprotect · 13/10/2018 06:26

@tchoupietdoudou the problem with waking up to silence is I have 1 husband, 2 dc and 3 dear cats. It's a worry not to hear any of them, especially as one is in bed with me. Dh has started making noises again so I'm relived but I did check both dc were OK!

autumnboys · 13/10/2018 06:34

The sound of the wind blowing in the trees around the house. They’re all still in full leaf, so I hope nothing comes down.

DS2 is 13 today, so now lying in bed running through all the arrangements for today, in my head.

Methe · 13/10/2018 06:50

Woke up feeling really anxious about something but can’t put my finger on what. Not a nice feeling :(

fleshmarketclose · 13/10/2018 06:53

I've been woken up by the dog scratching frantically at the door. It's my summons to get up so she can go back to her bed happy that I'm in the same room watching her sleep Hmm

AnnieAnoniMouse · 13/10/2018 07:00

I don’t sleep much.

There’s not a lot that doesn’t royally piss me off if it wakes me.

This morning I woke up at 4. I haven’t been able to go back to sleep (not at all unusual). I can hear the trains in the distance, a few planes & the odd car, and not much else’s. It’s fine. However, I’d MUCH rather be listening to the crash of waves!

Still, I’m grateful to not be listening to next doors yappy dog (possibly the neighbours the otherside have had it stuffed?!), or to be dealing with a snoring DH, crying child, wet nosed animal or other irritating things!

AngryAttackKittens · 13/10/2018 07:01

I woke to some bugger scraping paint off my window frames (rented place, landlord is having the exterior repainted). It was like sound effects from a horror film, like a werewolf trying to claw its way in. Would have preferred either the yak bells or the noisy ocean!

Charliecatpaws · 13/10/2018 07:02

Yak bells sounds a great thing to be woken by. I’ve just had a coughing fit and am currently on the sofa drinking honey and lemon (why have I never discovered this before, it’s bloody lush) torrential rain outside - I live in Wales and love the quote ‘sometimes in Wales it rains!’ 🙈😂

vampirethriller · 13/10/2018 07:06

I woke up to music from the all night party in the flat opposite getting louder and the wind battering the bin area, yak bells would be much better!

Weenurse · 13/10/2018 07:08

I woke to DD2 making cheesy mite scrolls to take as her contribution to the picnic they are having on their winery tour today.
She left us some to share 😀

Spamfrittersforeveryone · 13/10/2018 07:12

Listening to trees rustling and watching it gradually get light here.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 13/10/2018 07:14

Methe. It is a horrible feeling. I find going for a walk and having a coffee helps me. One coffee place here opens at 7 so I can leave at 6, have an hours walk, go for a coffee and be home before the rest of the house even stirs. I hope your feeling isn’t for anything ‘real’ 💐

Flesh 😖🤣. I miss my wee girl SO much, that if i could have HER back I’d happily put up with that. HOWEVER, it’s definitely one of the reasons I’m not getting another!

psicat · 13/10/2018 07:16

Woken up two hours ago to a cat fight (next door's big bastard that beats up everyone) and couldn't get back to sleep. DH is one of those annoying people who immediately rolls over and snores. It is a skill I've long been jealous of.
Yak bells sounds lovely

SocksRock · 13/10/2018 07:17

I’ve been awake since 3am worrying about work. I’m trying to Mumsnet the worry away but it’s not working.

LoniceraJaponica · 13/10/2018 07:25

DD has a nasty cough and woke me up with her coughing. Went back to sleep and got woken up by the next door neighbour driving off in her car to go to work.

LoudJazzHands · 13/10/2018 07:25

can hear the sea crashing around at the moment

I am actually very jealous of this. I spent 45 years of my life within spitting distance of various seas in various countries and now I am hundreds of miles from any sea and I miss it. My white noise app is set to waves crashing when I can't sleep.

tapdancingmum · 13/10/2018 07:26

@Moosebetimeforsummer where are you where it's snowing? My alarm woke me this morning at my normal getting up time. DD2 has a football match which means we have to leave the house even earlier than we do on a school day. At least we should get home at a reasonable time instead of wasting the whole day.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 13/10/2018 07:28

tapdancingmum I’m in Canmore, which is close to Banff in the Canadian Rockies.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 13/10/2018 07:29

And this makes me realise it’s time for my name change.

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 13/10/2018 07:31

That’s better!

oohyoudevilyou · 13/10/2018 07:32

...my husband peeing like a racehorse a metre from my head (en suite is by my side of the bed, and he has an aversion to closing doors Hmm)

He is lovely and very funny though, so had a chuckle about something we'd been talking about last night. Now downstairs drinking coffee and thinking about doing my online yoga. Life is good.

confusedofengland · 13/10/2018 07:35

I've woken up to 4-year old DS3 reciting William Shatner's version of Common People HmmGrin

thegreylady · 13/10/2018 07:38

Op you are living my lifelong dream. Have you been to Everest Base Camp?
Here in Shropshire it is a dull, blustery morning. I have a cup of tea to hand and a cat on my chest. I also have a freshly showered dh beside me. Life is good.

thebear1 · 13/10/2018 07:40

My 10 year old had a friend sleeping over, they started banging around at 6. However that's not an unusual time for people to be awake in this house so not to bad.

Thatstheendofmytether · 13/10/2018 07:45

Woken up by dp going to work 2 hours ago. Couldn't get back to sleep. Now if I had been working today I wouldn't have been able to wake up but up at 5.45 on a Saturday morning and it was a late night! I'm knackered but kids will be up sonn😭
