Does anybody have an experiences? I know it's in special measures

It's always been known as a 'Rough School'. Are you looking for schools in the North East?

impossiblecat · 12/10/2018 20:45

Don't think that newcastle has any other kind, unfortunately. It's more picking the best of a bad bunch, sadly

Hmm

You could always go elsewhere if that’s your attitude 🤷🏼‍♀️

Woah! I clicked on this thread to offer some insight into Newcastle schools (from a personal and professional perspective) but really don't feel inclined to bother be helpful now.

Did it not occur to you that people may be connected to schools in Newcastle or do you just not care?

LarryFreakinStylinson · 12/10/2018 20:56

Unlucky then.

impossiblecat · 12/10/2018 20:58

Ok, sorry I asked!

OP posts:
Crumpledandcreased · 12/10/2018 21:00

Don't be sorry that you asked, be sorry that you were rude.

impossiblecat · 12/10/2018 21:02

I'll ask for this thread to be deleted if it's really that offensive.

They are rough tho- was born in Wallsend so kinda know that much! Trying to work out the better option but hey ho.

Disagree that HMS has always been known as a rough school. Until fairly recently it has been a successful school. It's huge with a really wide intake from many different backgrounds.

The recent OFSTED visit was extremely positive and the school is definitely on the way out of special measures.

But yes op, your comments were rude.

impossiblecat · 12/10/2018 21:07

Why have you posted a link about football?

OP posts:
Salmonpinkcords · 12/10/2018 21:07

Same as crumpled - poor attitude from OP. Of course all schools in Newcastle as rough Hmm
Sorry I can’t say more as I have to go and drag my rough feral children in from the park where there are drinking cheap cider and smoking... 8 year olds these days Wink

impossiblecat · 12/10/2018 21:08

Which ones aren't then?

Jesus christ. There are some great schools in Newcastle. What a nasty thing to say.

Salmonpinkcords · 12/10/2018 21:10

Why don’t you send them to one of the private schools?

BikeRunSki · 12/10/2018 21:12

Blimey. When I lived in Newcastle HMS was the school people aspired to send their children too. Admittedly, I left Newcastle 20 years ago, but HMS has certainly not always been rough.

impossiblecat · 12/10/2018 21:15

Used to be one of the few decent ones, appears to have gone down the pan since then.

OP posts:
LarryFreakinStylinson · 12/10/2018 21:17

It was a link to an impassioned defence of the city of Newcastle. Seemed apt...

Vinorosso74 · 12/10/2018 21:17

Hmm weird....
Anyhoo I don't think all Newcastle schools are bad, Gosforth Academy appears not to be? North Tyneside may be better for secondary/high schools??

Vinorosso74 · 12/10/2018 21:19

Ah I've just realised it's work not for your offspring.

FoodGloriousFud · 12/10/2018 22:04

Gosforth Academy is worth a look as are St Thomas Moore in Blaydon and Kings in Tynemouth. I'd avoid Kenton, Heaton Manor and Wickham.

Brigante9 · 12/10/2018 22:07

For you to work in? Or for your kids to go to?

There are loads of great schools in Newcastle. Have you even bothered checking? My parents moved to the west end to get us into the city’s best comprehensives (at the time). They’re still pretty amazing.

mumprincess12 · 13/10/2018 00:17

Like pp had clicked on to give advice but won't bother - ignorant comment - not sure what you're expecting!!

Justyou · 13/10/2018 15:05

What a terrible attitude, my dc has just gained 10 gcse A-A** all in a Newcastle school can u believe - so as well as Op having an awful attitude it’s a wrong one too!
