Letter from bank with new pin but I haven't requested one?

Is this likely to be fraud?

The only thing that's changed recently is a control has been applied to my account, so I can't go overdrawn, but surely that wouldn't make them send me new pins in the post?

I'm currently at the doctor's or I'd go into branch, can it wait til they open tomorrow?

You do need to speak to your bank. Tomorrow should do. New pin would only be sent out for a new card where I work. So if you're getting a new pin I'd be expecting a new card. This might happen if there been a fraud like the British Airways one. We would remove online shopping functionality in the meantime.

@Wallywobbles Thankyou! I haven't requested a new card so I'm a bit Hmm

Has anyone been on your online banking?

You should be able to get a date & time of last login.

Are they replacing your debit card to an electron card so you can’t go overdrawn. Different types of accounts have different cards

fuzzywuzzy · 12/10/2018 16:56

Check your bank account, do you have online banking?
I’d also call them and ask them why they sent the pin. But it can wait till tomorrow, if you want to go in and see them.

SneakyGremlins · 12/10/2018 16:59

Little bear if they are they haven't told me Confused no new card, just their control service is what they've added.

fuzzy Everything seems fine, I'll go in first thing.

Just wondering why!

When my bank have changed my PIN I've received a letter saying that the new PIN will be included in a following letter. I've then had to inform the bank I've got it before I can then use it.. I bank with Barclays.
Good for you to be checking personally with them before using it.Smile

Sirzy · 12/10/2018 17:15

I would phone them BUT don’t use the letter you have just got to find phone numbers.

My credit card has just been reissued due to the ticketmaster fraud a few months back simply because I had ordered from them on the card so banks are taking big action where it is suspected.

SneakyGremlins · 12/10/2018 17:21

I've had no letter saying they're going to send me a pin.

Have used cars only at Aldi past week and only for spending £1.50.

No other activity Confused

You would have to log in to online banking, to see your last login.

Froglette16 · 12/10/2018 17:40

Don’t believe this. Call your bank on their usual number or better still go into a branch and get it checked. I know people who’ve had their details stolen, and this sounds like a similar scenario. See the bank in person if possible! Good luck. X

SneakyGremlins · 12/10/2018 18:24

LOVING this hold music.

Apparently nobody on their end has ordered new cards, and I know I haven't Confused

Also, if faced with a robot, mash zero and it'll put you through to a person Grin

So they have no idea Confused they've cancelled the new cards on their end, and they can see nobody requested them Confused
