Hi, I am so bored of the toys my DS has, they all seem too young for him now. So I want to pack them up in garage and start again at Xmas with some age appropriate stuff for a 3 year old boy.

Please let me know your recommendations ideally with links. I will look to buy some second hand and some new.

Specifically after a train table set up, vehicles, cars, farms but open to suggestions as I'm clueless etc

Look on fb marketplace for train tables, we got one in great condition with full track and trains for £20. There are quite a few about in my area atm.

How about a kitchen?

Or a shop?

This is one of our most played with toys: https://www.johnlewis.com/orchard-toys-giant-road-jigsaw-puzzle-20-pieces/p231663352?sku=231663352&skwcid=2dx92700037019239511&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=CjwKCAjwjIHeBRAnEiwAhYT2h0RKiyjBBmaHwN0451b5MN2PwcQArJlXmmxjgYJiR65rNTW7s6LGfhoC7wQAvDDBwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Otherwise DS loves toy train set and various small world play scenes e.g. wooden fire station, garage, pirate ship, airport. Lots are from Aldi. I suspect they'll have another toy event before Christmas. The fire station is this one:

Oh yes some great ideas thanks. DS loves fire engines, so a fire station is one the list !

Personally I wouldn't bother with a table. It really restricts layout. There is a reason you find vgc ones on ebay. Spend the money on building up a good train set and then a nice cooker/ garage

happyrayoflight · 12/10/2018 18:22

Great thanks @sleepismysuperpower1

Anyone know what those boards you draw on with an attached pen and then press something and it clears are called? The free hand version of etcha sketch? DS played with one at playgroup once, and loved that the it has a motorised clear thingy. My brain is mush and google keeps showing me shoes

Magic Tracks
Toy workbench
Toy Garage

Toy kitchen
Paw patrol fire rescue playset
Toy castle playset
Engino Qboidz

AquaPlay superset

DelurkingAJ · 12/10/2018 18:41

Depending on the child you may want to skip Duplo and move straight to Junior Lego...DS2 has views (because he wants to be his older brother).

He also adores his Brio World garage and Brio in general (I agree avoid a table).

Orchard games are a great success too and it has the benefit of encouraging taking turns!

happyrayoflight · 12/10/2018 20:05

@DelurkingAJ love the brio garage but it is quite pricey. Especially as @Ricekrispie22 's thorough list means I'm going to need a bigger Xmas budget !!! Thanks some great ideas I haven't seen before - brilliant !

Free hand etch a sketch is a magna doodle! Mine love them!

DelurkingAJ · 12/10/2018 21:29

I recommend looking on Black Friday...John Lewis has historically price matched any Amazon offers!
