Hello, I am a first time mum to my little baby girl now 13 weeks old, I breastfed exclusively for 11 weeks but now have started to top up with one bottle of formula a day, my little one feeds every 2 and a half hours 5oz each feed ( i express into bottles using an electric breast pump) right through the day up to about 10oclock at night then feeds every 3 hours during night still 5oz, she is an extremely hungry little baby , just wondering has any one else experienced this? Is this normal to feed this much?

My son drank tonnes of breast milk and formula at that age. Can't remember exact amounts but probably the same as your wee one.
He then continued to have loads of formula until I gradually started to wean at 5.5 months (he was showing all of the signs of readiness), he really loved food and dropped his milk intake rapidly. At 9 months he was having below the recommended amount and didn't take any bottles at all once he turned 12 months.
He's a perfectly healthy and happy 2yo now.

Meant to add DS was never sick, never even a little bit so I know he wasn't over feeding.

That sounds totally normal. The first 3 months of a baby's life consists mostly of one growth spurt running into another - there's another due at around 12 weeks, then a huge one at 16 weeks. The important thing at this stage is to demand feed.

I never knew how much both of mine were having because they were bf, but when I went back to work and expressed twice a day, I was getting 24 oz a day - so they were getting at least that on weekends when they were feeding directly.

At 13 weeks I wouldn't go with reducing night feeds - babies are growing very fast at that age, and night feeds are the ones that stimulate milk production most. You're still bf, albeit expressing to bottlefeed, so you don't want to reduce your milk production at a time when your LO is still developing so fast.

It isn't abnormal for a young baby like this to feed every 3 hours - in fact sleeping through from 12 weeks is really, really unusual. (And I had one who did it from 10 weeks, fully bf - but I knew how lucky I was!)
