Any criminologists / criminal lawyers about?

Is there a specific term either in criminology or legal parlance that refers to a weapon that has caused a death or injury being deliberately left at the scene of the crime? I'm writing a piece whereby this situation occurs, written from the point of view of the killer and I want to make a reference to the fact that he's left the weapon on the work surface to make a statement.
