Where to stay in London for 30th birthday trip.... please help!

So I hit the big 30 in January 2019 and I am thinking of celebrating with a few nights in London with my DM and DS who will be 1yo.

As we will have DS in tow, we will not be venturing out really in the evenings so I was thinking some kind of apartment with separate living space to bedroom might be ideal instead of a hotel.

I'm a bit stuck however on where abouts in London would be best to stay. We will probably travel in by train to London Paddington.

In terms of what we will be doing I am currently thinking just some general sight seeing, maybe a drink in the Shard so probably going to be pretty central during the day. Does anyone have any good suggestions of where to stay? If anyone has any good suggestions for things we could do whilst there they would be much appreciated!!

Ah sorry yes budget probably would have been helpful! I'd say around £200 a night but this could be flexible for the right place as it's a special occasion :)
