I'm a single mum at 41, because 5 yrs ago my abusive ex h finally left and moved in with his current partner. My children are all teens. I did not plan this.
Still we are treated like shit.

But the menz hardly ever get treated like dirt

I am now a single parent because i left my abusive husband.
When i tried to ask him to 'step up' when my children were born (ie look after them in a similar way to me, change nappies, feed them, talk to them when they were older, he hit me. You cannot 'educate' someone who is hitting you. For the sake of your children, you have to leave. It took me a long time.

Both of my children have SEN. I am physically disabled.
My 'lifetime award' of DLA (at the highest level) is being taken away (as its for the lifetime of the award not me). My blue badge will go too.

I have never had assistance with housing. Still don't. Am in cold and remote private rented and lucky to get that as a 'benefits scrounger'

If a young woman gets pregnant in London to get a council flat, she's not conversant with the state of social housing waiting lists.

Not that I hold out much hope he has matured at all but this was something unearthed from 2006 - any fool who goes into politics should know these things come back to haunt you.

I did everything right ( what all the good girls do, partner, marriage, babies) and I am still a single mother.

You cannot control another person they are either decent or not. Perhaps my kids should still live in a tense, angry and scared household so utter wankstains like this man approve of me?

It strikes me that those ‘Independent, professional and functional’ single mums arguing the case and taking offence A) aren’t the ones he’s talking about and
B) Aren’t very representative of ‘single mums everywhere.

If you have a career and are a functional single parent great, but let’s not pretend there aren’t 19 year olds getting knocked up in the back seats of VW Corsas’ in McDonald’s car parks to guys they barely know...who have no business bringing a child into this world.

These days it seems to be the case that doubling down on one's 'radical' views appeals to the partisan nature of our political discourse. So for every reasonable person that sees Shaun Bailey's views as stereotypical scapegoating non-sense; there'll be plenty that think they've finally found their voice and their true representative in Shaun Bailey.

Teen pregnancy has plummeted in the last 15 years so this is hardly the cause of the housing crisis.
Thank god single mums step up and raise the kids when the dads can't be assed.
