Apparently they don't need a daddy turkey to have baby turkeys. Who knew?
How do they explain the facts of life to baby turkeys I wonder.

When a mummy turkey and a daddy turkey love each other very much
Or some times when a mummy turkey just loves herself very much

When I looked into the turkey comment further, apparently a proportion of unfertilised eggs develop into turkeys

In most species that reproduce by parthenogenesis, the offspring are clones of the mother and so all female.

Years ago my brother worked on a turkey farm and they used to artificially inseminate turkeys, the reason being the male turkeys have been bred to carry so much weight they cant physically DTD.

StealthPolarBear · 11/10/2018 19:54

I would have thought this sort of thing was at a species level but obviously not as they singled out turkeys. So are there mammals who can do this? Surely not

What do they say when they have a few baby turkeys? 'John is your dad Little John, Steve is your dad little Steve, I'm your dad little Turkella'. How confusing for the poor babies, will we call 101 and log it?
