Wifi in car

I have just got a new car. Apparently I could get a datacard installed and the car would have Wifi.

Is it worth it? I can't see what advantage it is to have wifi when I can just use mobile data. What would be the advantages of having car wifi?

Passengers would be able to use, useful if they don’t have a big data allowance.

Using google maps as sat nav without it gobbling all the data, streaming likewise

It’d be useful if you have a long commute and want to use Spotify or other streaming services. If you’ve got kids in the car, they’d be able to watch movies or play games on their phones or tablets without eating up their mobile data. Would be useful if you regularly make long journeys and need to keep them entertained.

Thank you! The advice from both of you has been very helpful.

You might want to keep the connection secure also - assuming you don't want to be tailgated by less than an inch by a car full of adolescents all checking facebook

Id love wifi in the car.

With regards to using maps, if its cool enough to have wifi, surely satnav is inbuilt?
