Help with name of new venture please

Hi, have name changed for this as could be outing and don't want to link back to posting history.

I'm looking for some help with naming a new hobby / possible business venture and would really appreciate suggestions as I'm stumped.

When I got married I made my own wedding cake toppers (amongst other items) consisting of bride, groom, flower girl and family pets. Made from figure-shaped wood which I then painted then used clay to add details such as hair and flowers. Added fabric for dress and veil and painted.

Lots of people at the time said I should try to make a profit from it but I put it on the back burner until now. Need something to occupy my mind when not at work and thought I'd give this a bash.

Loved making my cake toppers and I'm a bit creative in general, so I know I'll enjoy doing this as a hobby at the very least but if I make a small profit then great. Going to create toppers which are modelled on friend and family weddings at first and use the photos to promote. Also thought I could maybe create figures for the top of other occasion cakes, birthday etc.

So far I'm stumped for a name, mind is blank! Any help gratefully received Smile tia.

Also meant to say that I have most of the tools and equipment already...wooden 'pegs', clay, clay tools, paint and brushes, bases for the figures etc.

Pretty much good to go tbh, just need a name for when/if I decide to fully go for it Smile

How about Top That!

Best of luck in your new venture!

My first thought was Top Job, think I might like Top That better though!
Good luck! Would love a link to your product when you get going.

Ooh yes that's good thank you! And so simple...my mind is completely blank as you can tell. Hoping this will help me to focus a bit more.

Thanks again Thanks

Sorry but ‘pun’ names scream amateur and bad quality. Go with something a bit more professional or reflective of you being an artist/craftsperson.

daintytoes · 11/10/2018 12:41

They're good suggestions too thank you Thanks

I've had a little look online and there's a business called Topper The World which is mostly clay sculptures for cakes (mostly wedding) so can't be anything similar. Why is this so hard?!

Just as well I'll not have to do much actual thinking when making them...just do as I'm asked Smile

Thank you I was a bit worried about that tbh, I'm not a huge fan of pun-type names . Some do work though but not so sure for this. we'll see what other suggestions come in. Quite excited really!

There are actual comapnies that exist to provide startups with names; because this is a) hard, and b) made harder because of international availability.
I work in Ed-tech, there is one rival company whose name comes quite low on Google hits, and is preceded by the fact that it is the word for penis is a foreign language.
The obvious and the puns are probs taken by now; but do you need the name to be product related? A lot of the more successful recent firms are named around their founders or something related; or you could blend the two "Dainty Figurines" type thing

daintytoes · 11/10/2018 14:10

Great advice adam thank you. Doesn't have to be purely product related, I could incorporate my name into it (which is somewhat unusual) so I'll take that on board Thanks and look at name generators.

I LOVE your art but Dainty Toes sounds like a pedicure business. In my opinion you need to keep thinking op.

What about Dainty Dolly Crafts or Peggy Dolly. Lovely figures OP

daintytoes · 20/11/2018 02:02

Thank you!

I'd considered putting "peg dolls" in the name but want to keep my options open for adding other types of crafts to my work in the future. Would be a pain getting business cards and other bits changed so words such as Dolly etc are out unfortunately.

I think I've decided on Dainty Toes Crafts. Smile thank you to everyone who helped!
