Mirena coil and first period

I had the mirena coil fitted 8 days ago and the day before that my period started (so day 9 now). Period went it's usual course nothing untoward, then it stopped yesterday and this morning it came back!!! AngrySad

Light pinky blood, but with cramps.

I was wondering if a lengthy first period is normal, and how long do they usually last for?

Perfectly normal. I seem to remember my first few were much lighter than my previously very heavy periods, but they lasted about 15 days each. In fact, my whole time with Mirena they lasted around 10 days whereas, without it, they are 5 days on average but a million times heavier.

That's a relief. Hopefully it won't be much longer then. Thank you
