Name change from the weekend. Thank you all for encouraging me to not wait to see my GP in November. I’ll be seen within the next two weeks, query cancer. Fuck, I’m scared. I have children, well teenagers. I just need to keep it together until the appointment. Not sure how but hopefully I can fake it. I don’t want to worry my family on a possibility

That’s sounds really scary. Well done for booking the appt, do you have someone in RL who you can confide in?

cranberryx · 10/10/2018 17:47

Don't want to read and run, but Flowers I haven't seen the original thread, but do you have a friend or relative that you could speak to? It's normal to be scared.

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 10/10/2018 17:48

Flowers well done for seeing your GP. Whatever is going on, it's better to know what it is so that you can deal with it.

The two week referral doesn't necessarily mean that they think cancer is likely, but they want to rule out the nasty stuff first. Hopefully it will turn out to be something harmless.

You'd be welcome to join us on the cancer thread to chat though, if you'd find them helpful :)

Hope you ok, I'm on a two week referral now -I'm actually there next Friday. It doesn't mean you have cancer but they are investigating it quickly.

FayKnights · 10/10/2018 17:53

Don’t panic, I had a 2 week referral for a lump on my thyroid. It was absolutely nothing and it’s the process to refer for certain things.

LadyMaryC · 10/10/2018 17:54

Thank you. Not sure if there’s anyone I can talk to, think maybe I’ll be able to hold it together a bit better if I just keep it all in. I don’t know, feels like I don’t know very much about anything atm.
Plus side is I’m not in the age range it usually happens, I’m in my mid 40s. I was just fine until a few weeks ago - the hiccups and sounding hoarse was the worst lots another two kg since the weekend. I wasn’t overweight to start with

Whatever happens, the good thing is you haven't ignored it. You will get the treatment you need. It's really scary waiting for a diagnosis. Try and keep your weight up if you can to keep you strong. Can you eat properly or does it come up? Can you get soup down?

marvellousnightforamooncup · 10/10/2018 18:32

And just to add, make a fuss to your doctor. Don't lose too much weight while you're waiting for treatment for whatever it is. If you are losing weight and hungry don't be meek about it.
