For a child in reception class to spend afternoons in the school nursery?

I don't know they havent said anything to me but ds came home saying he spent the afternoon in nursery ds has sen but no ehcp or ta. I waa just thinking could this be a sign he's struggling or pretty normal. School aren't very good at communicating and i am waiting for a meeting i keep requesting.

A few schools I'm aware of mix the nursery and reception children, so nursery get used to being in 'big school' and reception get to play wiyh the sand from time to time

Ah ok just not something i have heard of before and everyone else who has dcs in thw school say they have never know it before.
