Ovulation kits (first time! Help!)

Hi guys

I’m usinf ovulation kits for the first time this month as nothing’s been happening for around 6months.

I finished my AF yesterday 9.10.18 and my cycle was 27 days.
Today I used the CB advanced test kit and the digital screen showed the low fertility circle. I’m aware it’s soon after my period but when I took the test strip out I had two very clear blue lines...now previous post have lead me to believe the more they look like this the closer you are to Ovulating? So I’m very confused. I’ll attach a photo so you can see. I’m honestly not sure when to test/ how many a day I should be using and I’m petrified I miss my window.

Please help!

Thank you

This won’t help with your question here but I have PCOS, among other issues, and used a number of tracking methods before I got a referral and dx. I did use the cheapy plain strip ovulation testers from eBay (they do work, if you find you don’t want to shell out quite so much for the CBs) but by far the very best method I had for getting to know what was actually happening was basal temp charting. It won’t give you a heads up when ovulation is looming but it will help you see if you’re actually ovulating month to month (also what your luteal phase is), which should give you a bigger picture and help plan timed DTD. Good luck Flowers

They’re not like pregnancy tests where any line, no matter how faint, is a positive. A positive on an ovulation test is when both lines are as dark as each other.

Zelda28 · 10/10/2018 10:41

@OddestSock thank you! I just don’t have a clue so much appreciated.

Right guys so this is CD 12 and it’s still showing no fertility circle one the clear blue digital kit. I’ve sern other pictures lighter than this have a smiley and I’m concrrned I’m going to miss my window. Surly this darkness has got to be even high fertility? I’m so confused...

On a 27 day cycle it's likely you would be ovulating at around CD13. That photo does look like you're very close to ovulating. I would be dtd regularly if you can.

kaytee87 · 15/10/2018 06:58

Are you having sex every second day throughout the month? If so, you won't miss your window anyway.

everycloudetc · 15/10/2018 07:05

The lines are supposed to be exactly the same so keep testing. I got a negative in the morning then tested again about 2pm and got a static smiley. It can happen very quickly so keep testing twice a day

Zelda28 · 15/10/2018 07:23

Yes having every other day. So is it possible to not get high fertility on the sticks and go straight to peak?

Thanks :)

I’ve also tested on an evening and my lines are so so faint? If I test twice a day what other times or doesn’t it matter? Between 6/9pm my lines are way fainter than mornings.

The lines are probably fainter because your urine is more diluted (it's why you're meant to use first morning urine for pregnancy tests).
When I was ttc we used conceive plus lube (in place of our normal lube), sex every other day. On the cycle I conceived in I used the clear blue smiley ovulation sticks but still just dtd every second day so not sure why I used them tbh.
Could you try temping to make sure you are actually ovulating?

everycloudetc · 15/10/2018 07:43

early afternoon testing is often recommended. I never really go by the lines just by the smileys

kaytee87 · 15/10/2018 07:46

Yes, I just went by smileys too.

Zelda28 · 15/10/2018 10:42

@kaytee87 so just because I have lines there’s still a chance I might not be ovulating at all? I thought even that type of line was detecting some LH surge? Or doesn’t that even matter? I’m panicking now...

Also last months cycle I had my egg white 2/3 days just before my period for only one day that I noticed it.

I think you can have an LH surge without actually ovulating. When I was using the sticks I used one every day that I wasn't on my period and I noticed I had 2 LH surges that month - i assume I only ovulated once.

kaytee87 · 15/10/2018 11:04

That could mean you have a very short luteal phase which apparently can make it harder to conceive. Mine is short though and I didn't have an issue.

Zelda28 · 15/10/2018 12:11

@kaytee87 thank you for your support. My Periods only start again after coming off the pill in May. They were very irregular and it’s only my last two that have been 27 and then a 26 day and I just haven’t got a clue when ovulation will fall if...it does. I’ve had a few slight cramps lower hip and inner thigh area today..nothing major. Not sure whether to just test every day until my period then? Would you suggest not evening tests with them being so faded and stick to just the once?

Congrats I’m glad you had no issues then so maybe there is hope.

CD 12 today (not yesterday oops!) Took my CB digital advance this morning (but heard about their false smileys) no fertility and straight to peak today without high flashing! Had minor minor aches lower down yesterday but thought nothing of it. Will do my pm one still but is this a positive OPK?
