Renewing children’s passports.. do they need father’s details?

Do I need to put his details in a renewal? They have joint surnames of us both and he was on their original one. But they have nothing to do with him now. I have no idea where he is and his parents won’t speak to me.

What do I do?

Just put what details you know. If you don't have all the info put an explanation in the bit where it asks for extra info

We are zero contact.
I just put down his name and DOB. I signed everything.
Passports came back quickly with no problems.

I could only put the info I had but nothing recent. No questions, came back fine.

Another one that just put name, DOB, nationality. I didn’t know the rest.
