Nice brown paper style Christmas wrapping paper?

Occasionally Ikea does and amazing traditional/vintage/Scandi style brown wrapping paper. They’ve done one in the past with little toy drummers/ coloured stripes etc.

I don’t like this year’s one it a bit garish. Not many of the supermarkets have it.

Any of the department stores or other shops worth a trip too? Or somewhere online that sells rolls? I don’t mind paying a bit more as I mix the patterned on with plain brown and plain red paper wrapping paper with string/twine etc

Sainsburys usually do this kind of wrapping paper.

Worth a try?

chemenger · 09/10/2018 15:45

This is the sort of thing the people in the specific Christmas section are expert in.

Wilkos had some lovely traditional paper exactly like you've described two years ago.
I couldn't find any last year so just used brown parcel paper from the post office and used nice raffia ribbon and gift tags.
I'm hoping Wilkos have it again this year.

I saw one on the Paperchase website

The Ikea Vinter paper is hideous this year, but they also do Lankmoj and Givande which are more neutral. Check the website and see if your local Ikea has them.

silkpyjamasallday · 09/10/2018 16:04

I had some brown paper with silver stars on last year, I think we got it from WHSmiths

Mountainsided · 09/10/2018 16:09

@chemenger I know that I can post in the Christmas section but I like a selection of my posts to disappear after 90 days so someone in real life can’t recogbise me and my weird foibles!

@SputnikBear we liked the one with trees, either red in brown or brown in red but it was already gone! The same with the zigzag one.

Thanks everyone else for the other places to look

I just use standard brown paper (every year 😬) and thick red ribbon - saves a fortune!

AviatorShades · 09/10/2018 17:44

Sod you,OP! Wink Now got an earworm....brown paper packages tied up with string....." and I reallyreally don't like itGrin

Miniphilosopher · 09/10/2018 18:38

Hobbycraft does plain brown paper for £1.99 a roll, and so does the post office. Not sure about patterned ones, though.

Mountainsided · 09/10/2018 19:12

@AviatorShades soooooorrrrrreeeeeee!

That Julie Andrews woman just ain't amongst my favourite things!

I loved wrapping my christmas presents with brown paper, tho, back in the days when I had lots to buy. Think it's elegant. And I used standard brown paper too.

vgiraffe · 09/10/2018 20:42

Lidl usually do cheap but nice brown xmas paper!

Momasita · 10/10/2018 07:38

Post office it's classic brown wrapping paper.

Spudlet · 10/10/2018 07:44

I've had some nice brown paper from Oxfam before. But I quite like plain brown paper with gold ribbon now - feels quite minimal and elegant, as a pp said.

NotCitrus · 10/10/2018 07:50

Lidl usually does some, brown with red stars or similar. Folds nicely.

Walkerbean16 · 10/10/2018 07:55

@Mountainsided

it says above posts in chat will no longer be removed after 90days and that there is a new section called 90 days only.

Thanks walker, I’ll be switching my posting then.
Good shout on Lidl, i do like to see the paper. But I appear to have liked the east of India ones so will be getting a few rolls of them. I wish the year Ikea did the nice rolls I had stockpiled.

Thanks, will go take a look. Have always said if I won the lottery and had a huge house I would have a present wrapping room with displays of wrapping paper and ribbons on racks on the wall!

OP posts:
PrincessIsAUnicorn · 10/10/2018 18:47

Oh, I love the image I now have in my head, to go with my living room that is big enough to have a fire place, to take the logs tree trunks (the ones on the back of a lorry!) but it's not to be the focal point of the room! Grin and also my hallway has to be wide enough and tall enough to have a Christmas tree 🎄 that can take them massive baubles, but look in proportion to a normal tree and baubles 👍🏻👌🏻
I think I'd have to win a massive amount on the lottery for this HmmWink
