Do I need to pay - trainline tickets?

I’ve ordered some train tickets via Trainline but not picked them up from the station yet. Due to several things now happening all on the same day, work change, appointments etc, we now can’t go on the planned trip.

So if I just don’t pick them up from the station do I not have have to pay or is there another way around this?

Don't you pay for Trainline tickets at the point of ordering them, not collecting?

tilligan · 09/10/2018 15:43

Surely you gave payment details when you ordered? Your account will have been debited - whether or not you use the tickets is up to you!!

tectonicplates · 09/10/2018 15:43

They're already paid for. When you collect them from ticket machines, your credit card is just a form of ID so they can make sure they're giving the right ticket to the right person.

MsOliphant · 09/10/2018 15:43

Um, you’ve already paid Confused

cheesefield · 09/10/2018 15:44

You card will have already been charged when you ordered them.

IWantMyHatBack · 09/10/2018 15:45

When I've ordered tickets with the train line before there was an option to get a refund, check your T&Cs on the order.

Proofer · 09/10/2018 15:50

You've already paid on ordering. You will lose £10 if you cancel them or change them.

Anythingforacatslife · 09/10/2018 15:53

You can sometimes get a refund depending on what sort of ticket it is but you’ve already paid for them.

GreenMeerkat · 09/10/2018 15:54

Yeah..... you've already paid.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 09/10/2018 16:05

Oh bugger.

It's worth phoning the train company or checking their website for terms and conditions etc.

BusterTheBulldog · 09/10/2018 16:07

It’s worth checking if you can transfer / cancel them. Normally it’s about £10 admin fee but often worth doing still.

Womaningreen · 09/10/2018 16:10

how did you pay and not realise?!

hendal · 09/10/2018 16:12

Hi OP
Login to your trainline account and check your bookings. You may be able to get a partial refund though this doesn’t apply on all fares. I’ve had to do this a few times for work.

FlibbertyGiblets · 09/10/2018 16:17

Judging from the op, I reckon Julie's got a lot on her plate. Hope you're ok my dear.

Aurea · 09/10/2018 17:38

If they have not been collected from the machine, you can apply for a refund minus a £10 per journey admin fee, I believe.

cookingteaforsix · 09/10/2018 21:29

If they are the new type that 'scan', and they are not scanned during your journey. You are offered a refund less admin charge.

This happened to me last week.
