Concussion- do I need to go to A&E?

I fell off my horse today. I got back on, and remember going home, but apparently I carried on jumping after getting back on, and it was only when I asked “did I fall off earlier?” that the people that I was with became concerned. I have no memory between falling off and walking (on the horse) up the driveway to our farm. I couldn’t remember where my stable was or where my horses field was, anything from earlier in the day etc, but these memories have all come back now. I don’t feel dizzy or sick.
I have to go to work at 4/5 o’clock to muck out three stables and stick some (13) haynets out, as the owner is away and there’s no one else to do it. I’ve said I’ll keep in contact with DH by text the whole time so he knows I’m ok, and I can go to hospital after that, but not sure if I would need to, if I’m feeling ok. My memories have come back now, apart from the bit in between getting back on and carrying on jumping and walking home.

What do people think? Please be nice Smile

NICE guidelines say go to hospital asap: www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg176/ifp/chapter/what-to-do-if-someone-has-a-head-injury

You could always ring 111 and see what they say but I suspect for head injury with memory loss they'll advise going to A&E. Hope all is well and it probably is but best to get checked out.

Please go and get checked. Bruising might happen? I'm not an expert but my son got concusion and couldn't go swimming or any sports for a week. Take care!

Greyhound22 · 09/10/2018 15:52

I would go to hospital. Can you take your husband to work with you first - put the horses in early with a bit of hay and don't worry about mucking the 3 out they'll be fine. If you're ok you can always go back later and top them up.

I wouldn't be annoyed if someone did that with mine in the circumstances.

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 09/10/2018 15:55

Definitely get checked out

53rdWay · 09/10/2018 15:58

Yes, please get checked. You’re probably fine but the consequences of not getting medical care in time if you’re not are not worth risking.

Go to a&e I did this and ended up in for a week with bruising. I still can't remember what happened to me but apparently I fell off my bike.

purplecorkheart · 09/10/2018 16:20

A&E and make sure you have someone to stay with you tonight

formerbabe · 09/10/2018 16:24

Definitely go to a and e.
