Hi,

My baby is 3 weeks old, she screams most of the day and night. She sleeps about 8 (not consecutively) out of 24 hours (is that normal?
Weve been told she has colic and reflux, dr advised gaviscon so have been using that for nearly a week but doesnt seem to be helping at all.

What am i doing wrong?
What can i do?

Re-post this during the busy time and you'll get good advice on treating reflux.

There are better things than Gaviscon for dealing with this.

You could go back to your GP.

Huge hug to you, m'dear. Our first had severe colic - so tough to deal with. We tried everything - infacol, dr brown's bottles, massage, gripe water... none of it really worked and she just turned a corner at some point during week 11/12. Woke up one morning smiling and never looked back. I believe she was in severe discomfort and something just fell into place -
I read something about the digestive system developing more fully around that time - it made a certain sense.

Others will have good advice re. reflux.

In the meantime, be kind to yourself. Know that constant crying is incredibly hard to deal with. You are doing great. Keep going - this bit will pass before you know it and it toughens you up for other bits of parenting.
