Any South African Mumsnetters?

Looking to get a present for a SA friend. Is there a particular brand of gin specific to SA?

Why gin?! For a wine growing country that also drinks brandy ?
Why not go with a French champagne that will be possibly(ducks) superior to any sparkling South African wine ? e.g Veuve Cliquot.

If you want to acknowledge their South African quality, you could go with a bottle of "Buitenverwachting" wine, either red or white. It means "beyond expectation " and the quality is excellent.
Even South African gin drinkers appreciate a compliment to their superb wines!
I would be bowled over by the gift , that showed such thought.
