As title says really I'm a single parent and my 4 year old just started primary last month. I've been very lucky to be given an interview for a school hours office job just 5 mins from my house/child's school. It's perfect for me. Buy I just found out I'm pregnant a week ago.

Do I go to the interview? What if they offer me the job?

I found out I was pregnant 2 days after a job interview and got offered the job 3 days after. Didn't actually start the job for a further 2 weeks.

I think it depends entirely on your circumstances. For me it was my first pregnancy and I was unemployed (just left uni) so I needed a job. I kept hush until my 12 week scan. Kept mentioning how I felt really sick and just off. Played it as though I found out, was sent for a dating scan and found out I was 3 months. I know it's bad to lie but you have to do what you have to do to look after your family. My job had a 6 month probationary period which I just about completed before going off on maternity. They were great about it. Just meant that I got Maternity Allowance rather than SMP or any enhanced.

If you're working currently it will likely be that you're entitled to SMP and possibly, depending on company policy and length of service, enhanced maternity pay.

Have a look into Maternity Allowance and how it would differ to what you would receive from your current employer. If the benefits of the new job outweigh the cons I would personally go for the job and just not mention it straight away. A lot of people don't anyway incase, god forbid, anything goes wrong. You're not obligated to disclose until 25 weeks I believe.

Good luck Smile
