Tall people wearing heels

If you're 5 ft 11 plus, do you wear heels? And would you look at someone who did?

I am 5ft 11 and a bit, and I wear heels to weddings etc but never on a day to day basis. But I've seen some casual heeled boots that would be good for work etc and I'm just wondering if I would stick out too much if I wore them, as I don't want to look huge.

Any thoughts?

I have a colleague who is 6ft and wears heels every day. She looks awesome!

Racecardriver · 08/10/2018 18:55

I'm 5"10 and regularly wear heals. Most of the people where I live are white British so I tower above them anyway. I don't see what difference it makes.

Proofer · 08/10/2018 20:41

The boots are a chunky ankle boot with about a 3 inch heel, so I think I'll go for it! They aren't a stiletto heel so I think walking should be fine.

I'm 6 foot. I love wearing heals. I've MS so heal wearing is limited but I wear them on a night out.

Long legs !! What's not to love!

Heels !!!

Littlefish · 08/10/2018 20:49

A very close family member of mine is 6ft 2. She regularly wears 2 inch heels, and looks amazing!

7salmonswimming · 08/10/2018 20:50

I’m 5’2” and never wear heels Grin

DramaAlpaca · 08/10/2018 20:50

I'm 5'10 & I don't ever wear high heels. I just can't walk in them & find them really uncomfortable. The highest I go is about 3".

ImNotonLinkedInNo · 08/10/2018 20:51

I do sometimes look at tall women in heels (and i mean really tall women, 5'10'' and + ) and I wonder if they realise that they look like they're towering over other people, it' can look like they're on stilts, or towering over everybody around them. Their prerogative entirely though but sometimes as an observer I'd think a flatter shoe would ''own'' the inherent tallness better, not parody it.

Thatstheendofmytether · 08/10/2018 20:54

I am 5'10. I NEVER used to wear heels when I was younger, i was very self conscious. Now my partner is 6'3 so I started wearing heals years ago because I felt better that he was so talk 😂. Now I have a pair of boots with a small heal that I wear all the time. I don't tend to go over the 3 and a half inch mark though.

JoshLymanIsHotterThanSam · 08/10/2018 20:55

5ft 8 and rarely wear heels-if I do they’re only about 2 inches max.
I’m tall enough so never really seen the need for heels.
Having said that I wouldn’t really think a lot of a taller than me wearing heels-wear what you want.

Thatstheendofmytether · 08/10/2018 20:55

@Noboozeforme

Where did you get this boots they are fantastic!

Gobblebox · 08/10/2018 20:59

6’ here and love wearing heels on a night out. Makes me on par with DHWink. I have nephews (6’5+) and nieces (6’+) that tower over us now we are in our 40’s. Makes us feel very old. Also have a 13 year old dd and I started to panic (a bit) when her growth started to stall at 5’10”. Hope she gains the other two inches so she can fit in😬

Evvvve · 08/10/2018 21:04

5'11 and I wear heels whenever I'm going for a night out/wedding etc. I find them too uncomfy to wear everyday but I wear boots with a chunky heel day to day. I love being tall!

Noboozeforme · 08/10/2018 21:05

My friend got them for me .. so I'm not sure where they are from !

A PP mentioned about tall people not realising how tall they are. It's true. I recently met someone who is 6'8" and I felt so intimidated, but I'd never associated that with how other people may view me.

My best friend is 4'11"

SylvanianFrenemies · 08/10/2018 21:06

I'm 6ft and wear heels most days. I like the way they look. I'm tall anyway, so what's another 3 inches?!

Randomusername01 · 08/10/2018 21:10

5'9 and wear heels as much as I can, definitely on nights out. Don't care that I tower above everyone, (all my friends are 5'2 ish, just makes me stand out which I like.

al2002 · 08/10/2018 21:17

I'm 6 foot,I used to wear

Sadik · 08/10/2018 21:22

I think tall women in heels look amazing - I've got a couple of 6 foot plus friends, tbf they're both really stylish and fabulous dressers anyway, but I think they look just amazing on a night out with gorgeous heels on.

(I'm 5'1", and I'm the opposite, I figure I have to rock being small, so don't see the point in wearing heels.)

anunseemlylovefordustin · 08/10/2018 21:25

Buy them, wear them! I would love to be a bit taller (I'm 5 foot 2) and whenever I see a really tall woman rocking heels I feel like high-fiving her for being fabulous and totally owning her height. Who cares if anyone looks, they're only envious!

PhannyMcNee · 08/10/2018 21:25

5ft10 and love wearing heels! Can't walk any distance or drive in them so it tends to be for a night out only these days Sad

Passthecake30 · 08/10/2018 21:50

6ft and the maximum I wear is about 2cm, on a boot. I can't wear proper ladylike shoes with a pointed heel as my balance is atrocious and I'd fall over Grin
I used to wear slightly larger block heels in my clubbing days, and learnt to duck going through door frames!

Stephisaur · 08/10/2018 22:19

5’10” and wear heels for special occasions. That’s mainly because I don’t find them that comfy though, so I stick to flats!

If you love the boots, get them. A tall woman is a powerful woman IMO :) I would wear 6” stilettos if I could walk in them!
