Scented candle suggestions

Please help me Mumsnet! I'm ashamed to say that I dread my PIL visiting and not for any reason other than FIL's smelly feet. They are absolutely grim and after another visit this weekend I just can't take it.

I'm not even exaggerating, I was retching all day.

I'm thinking scented candle whilst they visit? But I have a newborn and 1 year old so don't want anything that's too smelly for them!

I would go for a plug in or a reed diffuser rather than an actual candle

My favourite scent is baby powder. This may fit quite well with you having a baby! The ones I currently have are from Yankee Candles but there's a small Welsh company called BusyBee candles, they were the ones I first tried baby powder from. Their candles are made of natural waxes and they do all the usual candles, melts, pouches etc and are really lovely. They frequently have discount codes on their social media and have great customer service. And no, I'm not affiliated to them in any way, just found them to be a great little company.

If his feet are that bad I don't think a smelly candle will cut it. However, if you do then Ikea candles are really nice and super reasonable. I've just bought 3 of these with the little glass dishes for them to sit on (50p each) and they're really lovely: www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/decoration/candles-candle-holders/friskhet-scented-block-candle-mountain-air-grey-art-20343304/

I would invest in some odour eater spray (it's marvellous) and spray his shoes when he's not looking!

A nice tub of sheep dip seems appropriate. I suppose you could put a wick in it and pretend it's a candle.

Owen drew or lily flame for candles.

Ewww. Can your DH not ask him to wash his feet? I wouldn't want sweaty feet juice all around the house, scented candle or not.

Oh no poor you that's repulsive. Does he take his shoes off? Candles and air freshener are good but also dab some shampoo or other nice smelling cream under your nose. Works a treat.

Buy some big slippers that cover them, I think if they were that bad I would jokingly say what the slippers are for.

A diffuser with essential oils in might work. It doesn't get hot like a candle so less of a worry with little ones about.
