On the edge. I'd probably not, but I'd sigh at the waste.

itallhappensforareason · 08/10/2018 11:12

No. I would eat if it had been refrigerated but not left out on the side.

Yutes · 08/10/2018 11:12

I would eat

Madeline18 · 08/10/2018 11:12

I wouldn’t but DP would!

This is where I'm at!! Gah.

Nope I wouldn't. Had this scenario a few days ago when my husband forgot to put chilli con carne in the fridge. It all went in the food waste recycling. I almost cried at the waste... and the loss of a tasty chilli.

FannyFlapping · 08/10/2018 11:16

Definitely eat it

Sitranced · 08/10/2018 11:29

The Mince bbf date would be in its raw state i assume but you've since cooked it meaning it could be eaten within the next 3 days. Whether or not you eat it after being out on the side or not is your call. I'd probably would if it was reheated fully to piping hot.

SneakyGremlins · 08/10/2018 11:31

Course. It's been cooked!

flumpybear · 08/10/2018 11:33

Yes, definitely! We do this regularly (albeit my Bolognaise has lots of red wine in it 😉

mollymollymoo · 08/10/2018 11:34

Covered yes, uncovered probably not but would depend on how good it looked.. Just heat it through really thoroughly - perhaps add a bit of water so you're not worried about loss of sauciness and give it a good boil.

The mince BBE is irrelevant once cooked.

I have worked in the Food Industry for many years and most of my colleagues would be fairly relaxed about this.

GobKnobbler · 08/10/2018 11:35

Yes. Have always done, am old, have never been ill.

skinnyamericano · 08/10/2018 11:35

Yes, I do this regularly. Possibly not in the summer heat, but definitely at this time of year.

SpoonBlender · 08/10/2018 11:35

I modify my earlier comment: I'd happily eat it if you had a cool kitchen at night, but not if you have all-night heating.

WhyDontYouListen · 08/10/2018 11:35

Depends how warm your kitchen is. If it was in a cool place and covered, i would. If it was uncovered or next to a radiator, probably not.

carbuckety · 08/10/2018 11:36

Was the heating on? Was it covered? If no and yes then give it a good heating through to piping hot.

WhatsGoingOnEh · 08/10/2018 11:36

Beef mince? Definitely. I'm exceedingly cavalier with beef, figuring that if they can hang steaks for a month with no bad effects, then leaving a cooked batch out overnight would be perfectly fine.

Reheat it so it's BOILING hot, to kill any bugs.

gothefcktosleep · 08/10/2018 11:37

Yup, do this regularly to be honest. We’re not very good at putting things in the fridge after cooking.

eelbecomingforyou · 08/10/2018 12:03

I didn't know the 'best before' date was invalid after cooking! The kitchen is cool. No heating.

OP posts:
Believeitornot · 08/10/2018 12:05

If the heating hasn’t been on and the kitchen is cold then yes (ie I wouldn’t in the summer!)

bluddyknackered · 08/10/2018 12:06

God, 100% I'd eat it in this country with a cool kitchen. If I lived somewhere blazing hot, I wouldn't, but otherwise I'd pop it in the fridge, reheat it well and happily eat it.

Racecardriver · 08/10/2018 12:21

It depends. I would give it a sniff. If it smell sour or off straight in the bin. If it smells fine then I would heat it right up and eat it.

RavenLG · 08/10/2018 12:24

tbf the meat doesn't know it's got a best before date. If it's ok, it's ok. I'd eat it, I'm not precious about this at all. If it smells fine then it'll be ok.

greendale17 · 08/10/2018 12:28

Yes I would

Hogtini · 08/10/2018 12:34

Yep, I would.
