Malaga in March tips?

Hi all, I’ve booked a short trip to Malaga for early March next year. I’ve never been before so welcome any tips regarding which area to stay in and what to do?
Am thinking of staying in Marbella and would prefer to be somewhere central.
Not a partier so not after nightlife, more interested in being able to get out and about to explore from a nice safe and central location
Grateful for any tips

I don’t like Marbella at all.
I love Malaga. The old town is lovely with plenty of bars and restaurants. There are beaches within walking distance if you fancy, though I don’t know if March is warm enough for sunbathing. There are museums, Roman ruins and the city walls to walk, all in the old town. The marina has a new and Uber modern walkway with shops and bars along it. There is plenty of shopping too. Our favourite apartment in the old town was overlooking plaza del Siglo.

I've booked Nerja. Recommended on here...

I'd be staying in Malaga itself if it's for a short break, the rest of the coast is v touristy, more for family holidays. Will be lovely in March I think, not too hot, not too busy.

Thanks everyone, Malaga it is. I love old towns, it sounds lovely
TheFaerieQueene do you have the details of that apartment that you liked as I haven’t booked anything but flights as yet

Marbella itself is beautiful not to be confused with puerto banus which is not so nice.
The old town in Marbella is stunning gorgeous food, orange square is nice for a drink but food is average and overpriced. Go for a wander up the side streets and find somewhere with lots of Spanish people.
Paseo maratimo (sp?) is nice for a walk and to have a drink and people watch. The beach is lovely.
It's one of my favourite places and we go at least twice a year.
