Caller ID set up

Does anyone know how to set up caller ID on a landline? I'm not getting very far - trying to help out an elderly neighbour.

Does the phone actually support caller ID? Have you tried googling the make & model of the phone to see if you can find any instructions?

Who is the landline provider? I.e, BT bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/8502/~/all-about-caller-display.

And, as Hilary said, is your neighbour's phone one which has caller display?
