Has anyone got any please?

I've never read fan fiction before until a few weeks ago, when someone posted a link on here to Draco/Harry one. And it was soooo good!

The longer the better please.

Search for northumbrium on fanfiction net. I can't link them from my phone for some reason. They are really good though. Quite a few of their stories are unfinished but strangers at drakeshaugh is recently finished and very good.

Smashthelookingglass · 06/10/2018 17:48

The authors Mugglemomma and Melindaleo are brilliant. They have written some long fanfiction stories and are fantastic. Also, check out notadryeye on the site 'siye'. Lots of fan fiction on there. Happy reading!

Twist of Fate by Oakstone
Any of the stories by omi_ohmy
The Special Branch series

All of the above on Archive of our Own

Robst on Fanfiction. I started with Harry Crowe and then lost about a month of my life 🤣

almightygirl · 06/10/2018 17:57

Also Foundations, Reparations and Turn (especially Turn!) by Sara’s_Girl, again on AO3

Proofer · 06/10/2018 18:45

Strangers at Drakeshaugh by Northumbrian - I've been following since 2010 and it just got finished a few weeks ago!

Everything else by Northumbrian

The Changeling by Annerb and its sequels

The Aurors by Floreat Castellum

Another vote for Sara's Girl here - Turn is just amazing. Cheryl Dyson is also good.

amusedbush · 07/10/2018 21:37

I bloody love Harry/Draco, and also Albus Severus/Scorpius. I used to write unabashed gay porn a lot of fanfiction in my yoof but I just don’t have the time these days! I still read it here and there though so I’m always on the lookout for a good one Grin

yorkshireyummymummy · 07/10/2018 21:39

What oh what is fan Fiction?
Have I missed out on something fab??
Please explain to me!!
I ❤️Sirius. And Neville.

DelurkingAJ · 07/10/2018 21:43

Columbrina for Dramione. I tend to look at the authors I like’s favourites and fall down rabbit holes from there.

As an aside what is the etiquette if something minor is jarringly wrong to a Brit (eg Hermione’s talking about buying a ‘bottle of ibuprofen’ or British muggles worrying about ‘affording a visit to hospital’)? As someone who would have been their school year and therefore hyper aware of British muggle contemporary culture I twitch occasionally but as a complete non-writer I keep mum!

unexpectedtwist · 07/10/2018 21:43

Seconding Cheryl Dyson (dysonrules) - and she's a friend of mine so 🙂🙂

I've write a few myself but I'd never recommend myself!

I'm currently writing for this year's Erised.

You’re missing out on a whole world of amazing fiction based on any TV show, book or movie you can imagine!

I’m 28 now and I’ve been reading and writing fanfiction for about 13 years. Some of it is outstanding and better than the original book! Some of it is utter garbage though, you have to wade through it to find the great stuff Grin

NotANotMan · 07/10/2018 21:45

Absolutely everything by Sara's girl (she's on live journal)

I LOVE dysonrules’ stuff! I read loads of her stories years ago but forgot about her until now - blast from (my) past!

FATEdestiny · 07/10/2018 21:51

This may be a silky question, but how do you read fanfiction?

Is it like a downloaded ebook? Or do you read from a website? Do I need an app? Is it free?

NotANotMan · 07/10/2018 21:52

Read them on my iPad just from the website. Sara's girl writes long stories in chapters

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 07/10/2018 21:58

I write a lot of fanfiction, but for some strange reason, I cant write for Harry Potter even though I'm a fan.

I've got half a chapter that has been sat unfinished for a year.

Cant think of anything to recommend.

KimberWozRobbed · 07/10/2018 22:05

Has no-one said My Immortal yet?

Kwackerly · 07/10/2018 22:06

Helix by Sarah's girl. I lost a whole Christmas to drarry when I first discovered fanfic through Mumsnet. Happy days. Never looked back 🙂 I like AOA for my fanfic, off to look up some of the recs above!

picklemepopcorn · 07/10/2018 22:07

Thank you so much for this thread! I'll be a very happy woman, now.

LanguageAsAFlower · 07/10/2018 22:10

@KimberWozRobbed
Only came on here to see if someone recommended My Immortal.
But I guess we were going for good Confused

unexpectedtwist · 07/10/2018 22:12

I recently re read Left My Heart by Emma Grant. I'd forgotten how great that is too.

I love EWE but can tolerate the canon kids if Harry and Ginny have parted ways!
