Soap for a tattoo

LockedOutOfMN · 06/10/2018 09:51

What's the best soap (available today - from a high street store) for cleaning a new tattoo? I know it has to be alcohol free.

Also any other tips for new tattoo care, e.g. lotions, wrap, cotton wool, etc. to keep them clean and reduce scabbing, please?

Thank you!

I would use water only, i.e. in shower just let water run over, no wiping/washing as such. Bepanthen nappy cream was always recommended for lightly smearing over top. If it's really itchy do not scratch. If it is completely unbearable you can gently pat the top but only if hands are clean.

You can't do anything about scabbing , your body will do what it will do. Don't wrap it except when artist wraps it after finishing it.

The place go recommends Carex anti bacterial.

I had 2 large pieces on my calf and thigh a month ago and used carex twice a day with aveeno moisturiser and had no scabbing, healed within a fortnight!

I take the wrap off after 2 or 3 hours. I wash with just warm water and pat dry. Use Lush Ultra Balm on every couple of hours for a few weeks.

Not much you can do about scabbing! Keep it moisturised and if the itching gets too unbearable just tap the area with your hand.
