British Thriller Boxset/Binge Urgently Needed

For various reason, I need to find a good boxset to binge on (looking for distraction/immersion)

I have recently watched:
Apple Tree Yard - Loved
Safe - also enjoyed
Bodyguard - Loved
The Fall - Loved
Doctor Foster - not thriller but kind of twisty and also loved.

I was recommended 'The Night Of' and also Broadchurch (which i never watched) but they are both ££££ on Amazon.

I have Amazon Prime and Netflix to choose from and also BBC iPlayer.

I was thinking about Line of Duty but interested in other suggestions. Fancy British and along the lines of the above. Help!!!!

Have already started watching Killing Eve - like it so far. It's not gripping me though.

I also loved The Night Manager.

Watched Thirteen as well . There's a bit of Jodie Comer theme here :)

Is LOD instantly gripping?

Did you watch Spooks. Or is that a bit old now?

Violetparis · 05/10/2018 20:59

The Missing series 1 and series 2 are really good and gripping.

Luther

I have just started line of duty this week. It’s great. Lots of detail in characters and plot. No overly ramped up drama. It’s v British and brilliantly written

DixieTrix · 05/10/2018 21:00

Line of Duty is amazing, it's the best series I've ever watched, even The Fall pales in comparison

slightlyjaded · 05/10/2018 21:03

Yep. Luther done. Also really enjoyed
Lots of votes for LOD then
And I had looked at The Missing as well as that seemed to fit the bill. Will have another look.
Spooks - maybe. I dipped in and out when it was on though.

Please keep them coming. And thank you.

Line of duty got me in the last 5 mins of the first episode.

CluedoAddict · 05/10/2018 21:25

Hinterland is on Netflix.

Violetroselily · 05/10/2018 21:27

LoD is utterly brilliant.

Series 1 to 3 are on netflix, not sure where else you can find them though

Athena51 · 05/10/2018 21:30

I've watched every series of LoD twice. It's incredible. The Missing is good too.
Series 1 of Broadchurch is amazing, series 2 is meh and series 3 is brilliant.
Unforgotten (all three series) is astonishingly good.
Strike (the JK Rowling one with Tom Burke)
Marcella is bonkers but brilliant.
I love me a thriller Smile

Fantastiqueangel · 05/10/2018 21:32

Line of duty definitely, plus Happy Valley. Both brilliant.

skippy67 · 05/10/2018 21:32

Line of Duty is amazing. I really enjoyed The Missing too.

skippy67 · 05/10/2018 21:32

And Happy Valley is brilliant too!

A580Hojas · 05/10/2018 21:39

Killing Eve. On i-player now.

Line Of Duty (there have been 3 series) is in a different league but you do have to be thoroughly on top of it for the extremely complex plot. And you need to start at series 1 episode 1.

Killing Eve is not so convoluted and quite fun at the same time as being reasonably gripping.

My recently discovered favourite is The Assassination of Gianni Versace (although of course that's not British). But it's really well done.

slightlyjaded · 05/10/2018 21:39

I surprised myself by liking Marcella too.

Ok. Shortlist us LOD, The Missing, Happy Valley and Unforgotten. But looks like I'm starting with LOD.

Right. I'm going in....

River
Unforgotten
Hinterland
Keeping Faith
Happy Valley

McWilde · 05/10/2018 22:54

Line of Duty - amazing.
Happy Valley - I could see it was good TV. Had to switch off though, it got annoying fast as they seemed to take pride in making the actors mumble to the point of it not being understandable. For 'authenticity'. But if you don't get as infuriated as easily as me, you may enjoy it.
The Fall- gripping.

13 reasons why on Netflix. Xxx
