Weird question (nut allergy related)

I really should know this by now

I'm allergic to peanuts and I've been advised to avoid all nuts, so would I be OK with coconut oil? It's in a lot of recipes I want to try but I'm not sure! I don't know whether to risk it - should I?

yes. coconut is a palm, not part of the legume family.
