Nice present for a woman I have only met once..

Teenage ds has been invited to his best friend’s mum’s birthday party. She is 55, looked quite quirky/hippy the one time I met her. She’s an anthropologist and originally from Equador. Not relevant I suppose, but that’s the only information I have! Ds only says “She’s lovely” which is nice but no help. Apparantly the house is full of “the sort of stuff you’d expect anthropologists to have”! I want to get a nice present because they have been absolutely lovely and very generous to ds, but I have no idea what and I have left it to the last minute. Any ideas?

Do you have a nice hippy boutique type place near you? The sort that sells handcrafted jewellery, ethical fashion etc.? You could buy her a nice scarf or something?

Failing that, a nice bottle of champagne or gin would probably go down nicely!

T2. It's cool enough and consumable without falling foul of people not drinkibg/eating sweets/liking smelly stuff

Oops, forgot to mention- it has to survive being in ds’s bag all day - sorry!

I agree about the scarf/ethical stuff from a hippy type shop. Or elephant things.

Personally I hate gin and champagne and had to Google T2! Don't drink tea either

I'll be in the same boat at Christmas for a few of DP's family
