If you get a loyalty car you get money to spend when you buy their own brand stuff👍👍

Theweasleytwins · 05/10/2018 11:22

*card even

BlaaBlaaBlaa · 05/10/2018 11:24

Love our local co-op. They do some really nice wine

thismeansnothing · 05/10/2018 11:27

Our coop is rubbish. Slightly bigger than a corner shop and really overpriced as a result

Ophelialovescats · 05/10/2018 11:41

Best of the lot!
Always good offers on crisps and choc bars and essential stuff like that.

Babybearsporij · 05/10/2018 12:17

Their cherry bakewell ice cream is to die for. I'd get £260 worth of that personally Grin

ColinsVeryJolly · 05/10/2018 12:20

Buy lots of Christmas goodies!

Their mince pie shortbread biscuits are to die for. Christmas chocs are 3 tins for £10 at the mo too.

Doyoumind · 05/10/2018 12:24

Can you use them online? They sell electrical items etc.

Dowser · 05/10/2018 12:43

Yes at our caravan..it’s really good
Otherwise a 20 minutes drive in either direction to a big Tesco’s

MiddlingMum · 05/10/2018 12:57

Ours has a very good range of vegan and organic food.

crisps and choc bars and essential stuff like that. Yes, essentials indeed Grin

HRTpatch · 05/10/2018 12:59

I lOve my coop! Great offers on wine and beer.

3 tins for a £10? Quality Street was £5 each yesterday.

safariboot · 05/10/2018 16:36

Normally I find co-ops are more like a jumped-up corner shop than a proper supermarket, and thus they're expensive. But hey, if I had £260 of free money to spend there I'd find the biggest one within a reasonable distance and buy some grocery shops there, they do normally have all the usual essentials.

foxessocks · 05/10/2018 16:37

Co op own brand chocolate is lovely. No palm oil so it tastes like proper chocolate (at least it did last time I had it hope they haven't changed it since!). Actually all their own brand products are very good.

NewGrandad · 05/10/2018 16:40

Very overpriced.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 05/10/2018 16:48

Their own-brand Fairtrade wines are gorgeous!!

Tartyflette · 05/10/2018 16:55

Our local village co-op is amazing, they took over a really dreadful shop that stocked a couple of packs of rancid bacon, generic tea and stale biscuits, now it's piled high with really good stuff. It's not cheap but it's open long hours and is very popular with villagers and passing trade alike.
What's good -- their own label smoked salmon has done very well in taste tests.
Croissants and pains aux raisins/aux chocolat (but must be loose, NOT prepacked) from the bakery section, plus yum-yums, pasteles de nata (Portuguese custard tarts) sourdough and other speciality breads.
Deli items like hummus, grilled artichokes with chili, and different packs of olives.
Ours has a great cheese selection (all prepacked, though Sad) including Comté.
Posh biscuits/cookies.
DH loves the co-op's own brand Bavarian lager, says it's as good as Urquell or Budvar. Wouldn't really know as I prefer Leffe Belgian lager.
Their wines have won awards and can often be on special offer, eg I've seen Yelland NZ Sauvignon Blanc which is gorgeous and easily on a par with Pouilly Fumé, on special at £10, down from £15. (A good Pouilly Fumé can easily set you back 18-25 quid. Or more.)
Ours has a reasonable selection of good Champagnes too. You can start stocking up for Christmas!

We have 2 in walking distance a little one and a proper small supermarket one. The bigger store has a better range of the £10-12 wine that is the sort of sweet spot, price wise, for price v quality.

I also highly rate their premium "irresistible" bacon, sausages and cooked ham and I picked up a rather delicious seeded bloomer, this morning (I live across the road from one of the stores, so we buy a lot there!)

Ohyesiam · 05/10/2018 16:58

Really really nice Prosecco. You’d get at least 26 bottles.

goingtotown · 05/10/2018 16:59

MIL bought her Neff oven online from the Co Op, at the time it was the cheapest she could find.

CramptonHodnet · 05/10/2018 17:03

Our village co-op is lovely. You could do a week's shop in there if you needed to. The produce looks fresh, its clean and I like it.

Needlemaker · 05/10/2018 17:05

I work in co op (southern) with us you can use the vouchers on anything alcohol electric tobacco just remember your loyalty card or we won't take the vouchers x

BackforGood · 05/10/2018 17:08

Our nearest supermarket is a Co-op, but we only use it for 'emergencies'. It is quite expensive, without being better produce.
the wine is nice though
However, if it's free, it's free, I'd just use the vouchers do to my normal shop until they ran out, then revert back to Aldi Grin

TeddyIsaHe · 05/10/2018 17:08

Oh their olive bread is insanely good. But 2 because you’ll eat the first in 5 minutes with tons of butter.

PiperPublickOccurrences · 05/10/2018 17:11

We have a small Co-Op along the road, more of a "tesco metro" or "sainsubrys local" size than a large supermarket.

It is fab and I love it. The staff are amazing, last winter when we were hit by the Beast from the East they were out in all weathers delivering to people who were unable to get out to the shops. The quality is good. Their own brand wine and prosecco is excellent. Other stuff is maybe a bit more than Tesco/Asda but if I drove to a supermarket it would cost me more in fuel.
