I have got £260 worth of vouchers from there and have never been.in one. I am hoping I can use them in the wine department.

Oh Lordy, the olive bread....

Honeyroar · 05/10/2018 17:30

We have a medium sized one in our village. We do do our big shop there, but use it for top ups. It's a bit more expensive but has good own brand stuff, a nice bakery and I like their morals, they're usually ahead of the others when it comes to free trade and things not tested on animals.

PasteSandwiches · 05/10/2018 17:33

Their finest equivalent pizzas are delicious and their meat is really good quality.

OhFlipMama · 05/10/2018 18:08

I love rurally and the co-ops around here are a godsend! Aways in one.

Tryingtogetitright · 05/10/2018 18:13

I love the coop. Agree they aren't the cheapest but I've never been disappointed with the quality of their own brand food. There's always offers on branded goods too. You could get a whole shop there if you needed to.

StealthPolarBear · 05/10/2018 18:29

The good ones are brilliant the ad ones are poor. I'm a bit of a coop expert.

StealthPolarBear · 05/10/2018 18:30

Their sourdough bread is also fantastic.

Wetdressinggownsleeve · 05/10/2018 18:33

£260 will get you a loaf of bread and a pint of milk that place is extortionate.

In seriousness, early Christmas shopping online?

Moocoo · 05/10/2018 18:36

What's this cherry Bakewell ice- cream you speak of?

rollonoctober · 05/10/2018 18:39

The coop own brand stuff is generally really good quality. I absolutely love their premium brand salt and vinegar crisps.

AnyFucker · 05/10/2018 18:39

Great food and good wines

SophieGiroux · 05/10/2018 18:42

Their frozen deals for £5 are good, usually get about 5 items like battered fish, chips, onions rings, frozen peas and mars ice creams or similar

Butterymuffin · 05/10/2018 18:44

Seconded on the olive bread. It's delicious.

pumpkinpieinmyeye · 05/10/2018 18:52

They do really nice boozy profiteroles at Christmas

wheat32 · 05/10/2018 18:54

Kashmiri Chicken naan chips are incredible. I'd spend my vouchers on those alone!

BonnieF · 05/10/2018 18:54

The Co-op are ubiquitous here in the East Midlands, with convenience stores in almost every community. The shops used to be very grim places, outdated and with poor service. In recent years, however, they have improved sharply and are now much more modern and inviting. They are still hopelessly uncompetitive on price vs Tesco express, though.

HRTpatch · 05/10/2018 19:02

Great ideas.
Olive bread here I come

How did you come to find yourself in possession of £260 worth of vouchers? Did you win a raffle or something like that because I'd be most peeved if I received a gift for (most) vouchers, let alone for the co-op.

icebearforpresident · 05/10/2018 19:02

My local co-op was taken over about a year ago and I really bloody miss it. The own brand stuff was great, even the normal range never mind the premium one, and I was happy to pay that bit extra for it. Now it’s a McCalls, all the good stuff is gone and what’s left is both crap and even more expensive.

A580Hojas · 05/10/2018 19:07

It is slightly more expensive than other shops but the stores are generally smaller and they bridge a gap between a tiny corner shop and a large supermarket. I really makes me Hmm that people expect to buy super-cheap food everywhere. Food has been getting cheaper and cheaper for years.

Their own brand pizzas are very good.

StealthPolarBear · 05/10/2018 19:47

Yes I think if you go in with very fixed ideas it can be expensive but there are always offers. Their fruit and vegetables are nicer than tesco (which I don't rate). I love that they sell that fair trade chocolate stuff, begins with an m, can anyone remember what it's called?

MawkishTwaddle · 05/10/2018 19:55

Montezuma?

NancyDonahue · 05/10/2018 19:57

Co op own brand somerset cheddar is amazing with their black pepper crackers.

Their fruit and veg is good. Ours has a bakery section too.

And I agree with the pizza and £5 frozen food deal.

MikeUniformMike · 05/10/2018 19:58

Love it. You can mix and match freezer items and it works out really good value.
