Hit me with your Winter holiday recommendations with a 10 month old

Where would you recommend taking a 10 month old in November on their first holiday abroad?
We're after some sun and things to do in the day with a baby as I'm not sure relaxing by the pool all day is an option!
Also I can't decide what would be easier, hotel vs self catering.

Please share your experiences of your best holidays with a baby to inspire me.

You will have to do a fairly long flight to get warm sun in November.

What kind of budget do you have?

Otherwise for shorter haul first trip, I suggest going at the very end of November or beginning of December to a European city for the Christmas markets. You can just do a long weekend, book into a hotel with pool and spa and spend a few days at various markets and sightseeing. Budapest would be my suggestion. Its relatively cheap so you can stay in a 5 star spa hotel for a normal price, restaurants family friendly, lots to see and do. Flight short.

If you want hot summer beachy weather. Antigua is a 9 hr flight and hot summers in Uk Winter time.

Unfortunately all the former winter destinations closer like Egypt, Morrocco and Tunisia have had unrest recently and many deemed not safe to travel to. As they were ideal for a 4-5hr flight.

Personally I would go to a hotel. Save the day to day sameness of at home. Breakfast is easy and often buffet options, included in price. Lunch you can eat out. And dinner you can choose to eat out or in hotel restaurants. Baby can sleep in pram at 9 months. And you can always buy some extra basics for snacks in between or if you want to feed baby before you eat some evenings. Everywhere has supermarkets.

Thanks for the suggestions. A city break may be the way to go!

Canaries or southern Spain will usually give you sun and low 30s in November. If you go some close to Malaga or Alicante you can combine city and beach if the weather is good enough.

Sorry typo low 20s not 30s. Didn't mean to get your hopes that high.

I think a pool holiday would work. Time with baby in the pool, you and your partner can alternate time with baby and have time together, baby can nap in buggy out and about.

Have a look at TUI family life.

I thought that plane travel with a 10 month old was easier in a lot of ways than with a 1.5 plus-year-old although I would always have gone with a self catering option (and eaten out where possible).

Have heard many very good things about Dubai for child-friendly places to stay etc., though would imagine this is on the more expensive scale.
