Am I paying too much for Internet??

I pay around £50 for Internet and home phone every month. I hardly make any calls; the Internet is very fast but I don’t have anything else like TV. How does this sound to you? Feels like a lot to me!

We pay £32 fibre optic broadband per month. No phone line rental or tv deals.

Theorbo · 04/10/2018 20:08

I pay £33 pm for landline and fibre optic bb with virgin. Its £30 at the moment but just got a letter to say it’s going up next month.

SlipperyLizard · 04/10/2018 20:11

We pay £20, Plusnet, not fibre but we don’t do anything that needs fibre.

flopsyrabbit1 · 04/10/2018 20:16

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/10/2018 20:19

Fuck me, yes!.
I pay that for internet, landline, TV, and mobiles.

Racecardriver · 04/10/2018 20:19

Way too much. I pay 17 a month

IHaveBrilloHair · 04/10/2018 20:20

That's fibre too.

Squeegle · 04/10/2018 20:21

Ok so it seems like I definitely need to renegotiate- thank you folks much appreciated 🤗

Have a look at plusnet, I expect you'll almost halve your bill

Squeegle · 04/10/2018 20:46

Yes- it’s funny as I am with John Lewis, who actually use Plusnet . I was on a good promotional rate, but it seems to have gone back to an extortionate rate when the promo period expired.

What is your internet speed?
I pay £63 a month but it is worth it (actual speeds of 350 Mbps).

MillieMoodle · 04/10/2018 20:49

We pay £55 for landline, unlimited fibre and Sky tv package (everything except movies & box sets). Have just switched from BT - they were charging us £60-odd just for landline and broadband with crappy service.

Always make sure you renegotiate just as the promotions come to an end!

Squeegle · 04/10/2018 21:01

The speed is 40 mbs, it seems ok

B.T have owned Plusnet for 11 years now.

I pay £22 a month to B.T for line rental, unlimited internet , & unlimited evening & weekend calls.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 04/10/2018 21:07

We're with Talk Talk and are quite pleased with their router and only £25/month for reasonable broadband and home phone (including line rental), we can pay an extra £5/month for their fastest broadband but we're doing okay with what we currently have.

We were with Now TV briefly (30 days) and their router was rubbish in our house, barely got a signal upstairs.

BloodyBosch · 04/10/2018 22:14

If you go to a new supplier, don't forget you can use Quidco / TopCashback for extra savings

Squeegle · 04/10/2018 22:47

@bloodybosch - thanks - good idea

Whether BT own plusnet or not, Plusnets service is better, they're cheaper, and it's easier to switch between services.

I pay about £40 a month for ~60mb, plus phone and a a couple of their TV packages. Free YouView+ box too
